So you’re new to Fementistry or maybe you’re new to making your own wine, a wine making beginner? There is a huge amount of information on this site and you’re in the best place for a beginner to start.
I’m sure you want to get started fast, so let’s not waste any time. The basics of winemaking are covered in the 4 following sections. Simply start at Number 1 and work your way through the sections and learn as you go. To succeed you’ll need some equipment, supplies, at least one recipe, and an understanding of winemaking techniques. You’ll find everything you need in the following sections to become a successful homemade wine maker.

Making wine requires a combination of scientific and artistic skills. All wine makers whether first-timer or expert are always learning more about the science and art of making wine. Good wine makers continually develop their skills in multiple areas including knowledge about their fruit, winemaking processes and techniques, fine tuning their ability to taste and evaluate, knowledge of the chemistry that occurs during wine making and wine maturing, operating the equipment, and attention to detail, as even small variations in the process can have a significant impact on the final product.
This all sounds very complicated and a lot to deal with, well it’s not actually, when you know how. We’re here to share that “know how” and get you started, then support you on your journey. Remember this, you’ll be learning about wine making for the rest of your life, and enjoying every moment.
